How is it that runners without a 20mi split weren't disqualified? The second place man had a 10k time way slower than his finishing time and had no 20mi split time. And, two women missing 20mi times had a 10k time of 1:15 and finished in 3:57. Huh? 12/mi pace to 8/mi pace. Talk about negative splits! These folks qualified for Boston. No accusations here...but this would be a really easy course to shortcut.

Sounds like it was a complete and utter disaster on the timing front (should have hired Simon). Hope Boulder Marathon is getting a full refund.

RS - chip time is your official time for things like BQ, but as far as the race placing goes it is standard to take gun time.

The pad to register the chip time was right at the 20 mile mark...if we take the results posted at their face value, the race winner finished the first 20 Miles in 1:07:50, averaging about 3:20/mile and then took an hour and 45 minutes to finish the last 6.2!

I have never been in a chip-timed race where the chip time wasnt my official time.

I assumed the 20m times, were for 20k. But I didnt do the marathon, so I dont know where the mats were.

In any event, a monkey could have tabulated the results better in the two days it took them to publish this.

While the finish times may be correct, the 20 Mile times are off by at least an hour or more, unless the winner of the race really took an hour an 45 minutes to run the last 6.2. So, I'm not sure how the timing company can say they did it right.

You might also note that the split times for the 20 mile mark in the marathon are off by (my guess) 1 hr. Huh?

On the official versus chip times, I think it is pretty standard to rank runners according to their gun time as opposed to chip time, as the race starts when the gun goes off, not when individuals cross the start line. If you want to be in the hunt, then line up close to the start. Chip time is for personal use so runners can know exactly how long it took them to run pillar to post. And yeah, the age group times for the half are all messed up.

On the timing company, this from the website: "The races are chip timed by one of the top timing companies in the world – Winning Time."

Draw your own conclusions on that one.

I just e-mailed them with my bib#. I kept it just in case. I guess I'll have to wait even longer for my time.

Julie,

My guess is you remember your bib number they should be able to find your time, that should correspond to the chip they gave you. I'm not sure what timing company timed the race though, so your best bet is just to contact Boulder Marathon through the website.

Good luck.

I arrived at the race 20 minutes before start time. They didn't have my packet. I have a confirmation of my registration from June. They were very nice and gave me the packet of a no-show. I just checked out the link to the times someone posted. I'm not on there! :(
