Skirt Chaser 5k Denver 2009
Skirt Chaser Results here
One second faster than last year, ran a 17:47, looks like a break out season is on the cusp! The Skirt Chaser course is rough and tough, tough but fair. Felt pretty decent during the run, I have yet to look at my splits, figure it doesn’t really matter since the course basically has you run up a hill, down a hill, run up another hill, then back down a hill for a finish. The course was changed from 2008, I think they wanted to relieve some of the congestation that occured last year when the runners made a U turn and the race had runners coming on both sides, thus a good change, course difficulty was the same though.
I figured Simon Cheprot would make an appearance but his friend Kennet Kiptoo was there. I’m starting to wonder if three minutes is too big of a gap for the men? I wonder what the current series is with regards to a male or female winning. I’m too lazy to do that much research on a Sunday evening, but for a male to win they are going to have to go well below sub 15.
Also, surprised at the lack of the competition on the men’s side. When a race has 1k runners and I’m coming in third for the men, that tells you something, it doesn’t tell you that I am fast or getting faster it just says that not too many fast runners showed up this year. Granted, last year I was 6th for the men, but I was thinking with the increased numbers of racers that I might be lucky to pull a top ten finish prior to the start of the race.
We also got meet up with Half-Fast after the race for some not so delicious Dale’s Pale Ale, so that was fun.

The website has the ’score’ listed as Girls 8, Guys 3.
I’m glad you found us after the race and we enjoyed hanging out with you and getting to meet your wife. Congrats to you both on your races!
