What about when you are in dense wooded areas? My Garmin 205 has lost signal before when on the trails. Maybe in those cases the Tech4o would be superior because there is no signal to lose. But then, I haven’t tried the 405, maybe that keeps signal in all Endor-like conditions.
That’s obviously the advantage of a pedometer over GPS, when you’re in Endor. However, I calibrated the length of my stride on a track and when you’re running on trails, especially going uphill and downhill your stride length is quite different, so my guess is there is more discrepancy.
