The Heart Center of the Rockies Half Marathon 2008

I ran the Heart Center of the Rockies Half Marathon in 2007 and gave it a rather harsh review. The course had issues the past two years, however, I noticed this year that they had an all new course. The participation in 2008 was down slightly from 2007, about 26 less runners. However, they did raise the entry fee by $10, which is something I even mentioned in an old post. Thus, revenue was up, nice work!
One of the things that I mentioned in my review was that the course was a bit confusing and boring, doing two laps around the park, and I even suggested having part of the race run in Loveland. This year, the half marathon was a point to point race, starting in Loveland and ending in Boyd Lake State Park. So hopefully it went well.
I contemplated running this race again this year, but figured I’d wait to hear what people said about the new course before I plunked down the dollars. I’ve been getting a lot of hits on my website for people searching for “The Heart Center of the Rockies Half Marathon” and would like to dish out some praise if the course this year was an improvement. If you ran this race in 2008, drop a note in the comments section, love to hear from you.
