Week 36 Recap
A decent week of training, however I have been rather tired, not fatigued, but sleepy tired. I’m going to make a concentrated effort of getting to bed earlier with the marathon being only five weeks away. My weight is also down to 163lbs, thus I have lost 11lbs since I resumed running after my hip flexor injury. Encouraging, but I’d like to get under 160lbs before the Denver Marathon, it’s hard to find that right balance of getting enough calories to keep me fueled for 70 mile weeks but still drop a pound or so per week.

70.11 Miles Total
A relatively easy week of training, I made the mistake of not getting in some sort of tempo run mid-week. The plan was to do a tempo run during my 14 mile run on Wednesday but once I got out there, I didn’t feel like pushing it, so I took it easy. The hard part of living in Denver, is that I do 80% of my runs from my house and it’s rather tough to get in tempo run when you have to deal with crossing intersections, etc.
Sunday’s 21 Miler was the longest run for me on the year, it was nice having Brandon along to keep me company. Having company on those long runs definitley make them a lot easier. I think that was my third time running out at the Boulder Reservoir and it’s a great place to run.
Five weeks until the Denver Marathon, two hard weeks of training and then the taper. I also just looked at the 5k race results for the Southlands 5k and saw that Josephat Keino (15:41) ran 37 seconds slower at this race than the Skirt Chaser (15:04), so that makes me feel better about my slow time.
