All easy runs, I cannot get motivated to do a hard work out when it’s 90+ degrees which it was about everyday this week and being that I normally run at around 5pm, it’s not going to happen. However, I was pleased to at least hit the mileage goal for the week. The 15 mile run was rough, when I got done at 8pm, the temperature outside was 89, plus it’s been humid of late, odd for Colorado.
Put 21 miles on the Vibrams this week, I love ‘em. However, they reek, man are those things pungent. I now keep them outside permanently, if I put them in the shoe closet the entire closet smells. I decided to wash them tonight, took them out of the washer and they looked clean and smelled somewhat better, but they still had a foul odor. I should have put a full scoop of OxiClean in there as opposed to just a 1/4 a scoop, not sure if Billy Mays ever had such a challenge?

I have the same problem with the VFF’s – they sit on my screen porch. I had them in my closet recently and didn’t know why the whole thing smelled.
What pace do you run in those VFF’s? 21 miles already, that’s crazy. I feel good and have fun when I wear them, but my pace drops by maybe 30 seconds/mile. And if I go over 5-6 miles, my calves are going to hurt.
I normally run about 7:30 pace in them, also a tad slower since I am running on grass.
I have never had my calves hurt using the VFFs but I have heard other people say that. On a 7 mile run though, I start to get some rubbing though on the foot, but that is happening less and less as I become more used to them.
I washed them again this morning. Last night I washed them in cold, but it states to use warm water, so that might help. I also realized that oxiclean is only good on stains, so I decided to use more detergent as well.
