Decent week of training. I was happy with the long run with and the marathon race pace thrown in, felt good, plus the weather was nice and cool. Makes such a difference to not run in the blistering heat, almost seems easy. I was hoping to go >17:40 at the Skirt Chaser but it was not in the cards, oh well, still a decent performance and at least it’s not slower than last year.

I really enjoyed the last one, I think about opportunity cost all the time. Life is all about maximizing utility.
At the Skirt Chaser, I had the following conversation with the girl handing out wrist bands for the beer tent:
Girl “Do you want a wrist band?”
RunColo “Yes, please!”
Girl “Can I see some ID?”
RunColo “Nope, I don’t race with my drivers license, but I am old enough to drink by ten years if that helps”
Girl “Sorry, we have to have ID”
Simon “Look, you see this t-shirt, it says Burlington High School Cross Country 1995-1996, that’s the year I graduated high school, how’s that for an ID?”
Girl “Ok, that’s fine, here you go”
So there you go, just wear your old high school t-shirts to the bar the next time you forget your ID.
