Xclusive

Today was the day that I was suppose to have run the Lincoln Marathon. It’s been four weeks since I last ran the Platte River Half Marathon and came down with my Hip Flexor Sprain. I still can’t run, but it’s getting better.

I got tired of riding the bike at home, so I joined a health club, it’s called Xclusive. Ok, that’s not really the name of the Health Club, but if you’re a fan of Bret Easton Ellis you may get that joke.

So, I’ve been doing the Elliptical Trainer. I like that machine, gives you a good work out, gets the heart rate up and it mimicks running rather well without giving you the impact of running, which is what I have to avoid right now. I have even read that the Elliptical Trainer is just as efficient burning calories as the treadmill, good to know.

I’m not really a fan of Xclusive or Health Clubs in general. This past Saturday, I hit the Elliptical and I am amazed that their are people running on the treadmill on a perfectly nice day outside. I think some people just like the controlled environment that a Health Club offers, but I hate it. I like the outdoors, variety, et al.

I did get a laugh when a new guy showed up, hops on the Elliptical next to me and places his twenty ounce Pepsi in the beverage holder. I left before him, but I thought a funny analysis would have been to have looked at the calories burned on the Elliptical versus the calories that he consumed via the Pepsi and to have seen which one was greater.
