    Forget about giving the women a three minute head start, Cassie Slade would have won the Denver Skirt Chaser 5k straight up. Cassie dominated all comers on a warm evening in Cherry Creek with temperatures hovering in the upper eighties for the 5pm start. Her time of 17:23 was 25 seconds faster than the fastest male, Edward Le Grice, who ran a 17:48. The women took the top four spots last night in the men vs. women challenge.

    Active at Altitude is hosting a number of events in the coming months for area runners. In September, the Estes Park facility will host a week-long Women's Running Camp and in October, a weekend Trail Running Clinic. Previous events have included elite marathoners Tera Moody and Fiona Docherty, Boulder high school legend Melody Fairchild, and Running Times trail editor Adam Chase as hosts. With access to amazing trails, plush accommodations, and great coaches, both events promise to benefit all levels of runners.

    Jessica Pixler won 12 NCAA Division II championships running track and cross country for Seattle Pacific University, where she graduated in May with an English Major. Jessica has a post-graduate scholarship and will be attending the University of Colorado for the 2010-2011 school year and will be eligible for one season of outdoor track. Jessica has that one season of eligibility left, due to a stress fracture in her back that caused her to miss her sophomore year of track at SPU.
